Ali, also known online as Eventyrverden, is a Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist with a focus on metalwork and illustration. She has worked with us as a vendor and collaborator since the beginning of Wedgie, and we are honored to have her kick off our new weekly artist spotlight series showcasing artists and their work. Ali’s work as a mixed media artist has evolved over time, with her main focus now on creating elaborate metalworks through soft soldering and casted metal pendants.
✧・゚: ✧・゚:Drawing inspiration from medieval art and folklore, Ali’s work will transport you into her fairytale realm. ✧・゚: ✧・゚:

When did you start making art?
"It was something I felt I was good at in kindergarten, and my classmates would always ask me to help them with their projects when I was little—since then, it kind of just became my thing."
How has your art evolved over time?
"I’ve realized how much I like colors and embraced a really feminine princess aesthetic. I’ve gone down a lot of rabbit holes and discovered a lot of new techniques, and thus discovered a more cohesive voice than I had when I just painted and drew."
What are you currently drawing inspiration from?
"Material research—especially figuring out what I can print on or how I can wear something."
Do you have any upcoming big projects?
"I won a full-size sex doll in a giveaway that I got to customize—I want to do some photo shoots with it and print the images on garments. I’m so excited”
What’s your favorite thing you’ve done recently?
"I’m really proud of the photoshoot I did with @darqsouls2_. I feel like it’s a concept I’d loosely had since lockdown, so bringing it to life was so satisfying."
